#Name&Shame: Blessers in SA

Whether you call them blessers, sugar daddies, or anything else, the issue remains the same: taking advantage of young girls is wrong.

#MTVShugaDS has shown us what being with a blesser is really like, and exposed the harsh reality that lies behind the luxury gifts and expensive hair. ‘Tsholo’ has suffered at the hands of her blesser, ‘Sol’, who thought that by buying her presents, she now ‘belonged’ to him. What began as a seemingly sweet relationship soon turned into an abusive and controlling one, which ‘Tsholo’ had no say in.

‘Tsholo’ got caught up with ‘Sol’ and ended up falling in too deep. But why was she in this situation in the first place?
Stephanie Sandows, who plays ‘Tsholo’, and Ayanda Makayi, who plays ‘Sol’, explain what the term ‘blesser’ really means, and discuss the reality for girls in SA.
