MTV Shuga Naija: Episode 7 Recap

Episode 7 jolted us so bad and left us crying. But Adebola Aduwo managed to write through the tears to recap the episode

Where do we begin? We were so relieved to see that Frances is alright…Or at least, trying to be. We can only be thankful for friends like Cynthia. It’s admirable to see how she’s standing by Frances, especially in this time when she needs a shoulder to lean on! Rumours about what happened at the party are flying around the school and the girls are afraid to tell their parents about it. Yasmin, being a guardian angel, as usual, made them understand that speaking up about certain issues, even if you’d get in trouble afterward, is better than suffering in silence. Diana, on the other hand, isn’t such a great friend. She resorted to bullying Frances and trying to buy her friendship back with money but she did not have her way this time though.

Cynthia and Frances finally stood up to Diana’s bullying tactics, even when she tried to buy their friendship back. No amount of money can ever fix the damage that a traumatic experience causes. #MTVShugaNaija

Don’t we all need a weekly dose of Mrs. Olotu? That woman is hilarious! She made such a fuss about the debate team, one would think she has been supporting them all this time. Anyway, Hadiza made it to the finals and was performing so well until her father walked in. I don’t know how he found them. She was shocked and so were we! Not only did she manage to finish her debate, she also won the competition. Everyone was excited until they realized they couldn’t find Hadiza. She ran away out of fear of what was about to happen.

It has been a conflict of emotions for Ebisinde – he’s happy for Faa now that she has gotten her big break while being upset about the means she used to get the music deal. It’s understandable though. No one would be happy seeing their loved ones taken advantage of just for a career boost. He tries to mask his emotions but Faa saw through all of that. He was so sad that he couldn’t even bring himself to attend the concert she was performing at. He gave the tickets to Cynthia instead. Little did he know that he just made her entire year!

At this point, I finally agree that Tobi has Leila’s mumu button and is not letting go anytime soon. How can she still agree to have unprotected sex after that important talk with Uju? How can you hear a man say, “Don’t worry, I’ll pull out in time” and still go on with it? Putting yourself at a risk of getting STDs or an unwanted pregnancy for a few minutes of pleasure isn’t such a wise thing to do.

While that was happening, Faa’s performance at the concert was so good! But Bada had to ruin it all. He tried to make her have sex with her again but she refused, especially because there were no condoms. First of all, you are not entitled to anyone’s body just because you’ve had sex with them before. Bada didn’t care about that, he hit Faa and forcefully had his way with her. Yes, he raped her because she wasn’t willing to have unprotected sex. It was painful to see Faa in that state, so helpless and weak. This is one sad ending we may never get over. I really can’t wait to see what happens next.
