The full cast for the new season of MTV Shuga is finally out…
It’s been two months since we announced that MTV Shuga is coming back to Naija, so we thought it was about time we told you who else would be coming along for the ride… Old faces, new faces and unsigned talent. The coming season has it all!
Amongst the fresh faces joining the crew, we have 10 up-and-coming actors featuring in the coming season, as well as returning cast members Timini Egbuson, Jemima Osunde and Sharon Ezeamaka. We all know that the previous two seasons in Lagos were LIT, so to help us bring back the magic, we’ve recruited fan-favourite Olumide Oworu, who played ‘Weki’ in seasons 3 and 4, to reunite with the original Shugacrew.
#ICYMI, we searched far and wide for Nigeria’s hottest unsigned talent in both our public and online auditions, and the Shugafam did not disappoint! With over 1500 people turning up to our on-the-ground auditions in Lagos, and hundreds of entries online, the judging panel had to put in work to find our newest members. From the amazing pool of talent on show, Uzoamaka Aniunoh & Emeka Nwagbaraocha, have been selected to join the bill for MTV Shuga Naija.
As well as the successful actors from the public auditions, other acting talent new to the drama include: Segun Dada, Moses Akerele, Chinaza Ruby Akubueze, Sharon Jatto, Helena Nelson, Chimezie Imo, Tomiwa Tegbe and Nelson Ora.
As if that wasn’t enough, we have also joined forces with some high profile talent to bring you our biggest MTV Shuga season yet. Nigerian stars, such as Funlola Aofiyebi–Raimi, Bolanle Olukanni, Nobert Young, Rahama Ibrahim Sadau, Ladani Sulaiman, Ozzy Agu, Shawn Faqua and Yakubu Mohammed, have all signed up for MTV Shuga Naija.
The new season will be produced by award winning writer/filmmaker Chris Ihidero, as well as Emma Uduma of SMAT Media. Award winning directors, Tolulope Ajayi, Ishaya Bako and Tope Oshin have also been revealed as the directors for our big return.
Family planning, contraception, HIV prevention & sexual health education will take centre stage as MTV Shuga comes back to Naija, coupled with hard-hitting story-lines that explore issues faced by young people every day. MTV Shuga Naija will premiere on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and BET (DStv channel 129), as well as other third party broadcasters around the world in 2018.
