Let’s all give a big MTV Shuga welcome to Adebukola Oladipupo, who will be playing a starring role in the newest series of #MTVShugaNaija, as ‘Faa‘. For the keen eyed amongst you, perhaps you’ll recognise Bukola from previous seasons of MTV Shuga. Keep reading to find out where!

Describe yourself in three words…
Shy, Outspoken, Unpredictable (lol unpredictable basically sums it up).

Where’s home?
Lagos, Nigeria.

Where’s your favourite spot in Naija?
My mummy’s room.

What do you do to let your hair down?
I change my hair, literally (lol).

What’s your favourite song on your playlist right now?
My playlist changes a lot but one song that has been constant is “Ebezina (don’t cry) by Preye”.

What’s your favourite TV show?
Regular Show!

What made you want to become an actor?
I did a couple of other things but nothing else gave me such a rush and so much positivity, purpose and fulfilment as much as acting does. I like to think that acting in itself is subliminal in the sense that you influence people’s thoughts and actions without them even knowing it, and to be given that kind of power to change people’s lives positively is a huge fulfilment to me.

If you weren’t an actor, then you would be…
Tourist/Scholarx

Best piece of advice you ever received?
Be still and know that I am God.

How do you overcome day-to-day challenges in your life?
I drink water, breathe and thank God that I still have a life.

How did you become a part of MTV Shuga?
I went for the open auditions for season 4, I got a call back to play a “wakapass” role. I was upset about the kind of role I got, so I prayed, asked God for guidance and I dropped the pride or whatever it was and found myself giving my all to this “wakapass” role that I never even wanted in the first place. I still remember my one and only incomplete line: “MY SISTER NAWA!!!” (Lol) Now look who’s playing lead in the new season all because I chose to be humble. P.S Do not despise the days of humble beginnings.

What made you want to get involved in MTV Shuga?
MTV Shuga gives me the platform I need to achieve the main reason why I wanted to act in the first place. It doesn’t just pass a message, it impacts the message.

What social issues covered in the show are close to your heart?
If you follow MTV Shuga from the first season, you will realize that one of the things that it draws attention to is female liberation, which is the ability of women to overcome sexual discrimination. That message right there is the closest to my heart.

What are 3 things you wish to accomplish in your life?
Happiness, more happiness and even more happiness.

What are you most looking forward to about the new season of MTV Shuga in Nigeria?
My character is very controversial and I love her. I want to see how people accept her and what lessons they pick from her story.
