Let’s all make some noise for the talented, intelligent and beautiful, Sharon Jatto!

Sharon will be playing the role of Simi in the upcoming season of MTV Shuga Naija. Sharon was simply born to be an actress (she claims she’s been a drama queen since birth) but her range of talents doesn’t end there.

In this interview, we speak about some of her favourite hobbies and hang out spots, as well as where her career could take her in the near future. She also reveals her love for the DMW and gets serious as she talks about how she wants to make an impact on MTV Shuga Naija.
Over to you Sharon!

Describe yourself in three words…
I am a smart, fun-loving dream chaser.

Where’s home?
Because I am someone who loves her privacy, home is any place where I don’t feel disturbed and uncomfortable. Home is where my loved ones are.

Where’s your favourite spot in Naija?
That would have to be the theatre republic in Lekki. Its a place where I get to meet so many talented souls and watch them perform. Also anywhere where there is loud music and drinks even if it’s my room.

What do you do to let your hair down?
I take myself out on a beauty date, come back home, take loads of pictures, stare at the pictures for a while, tell myself how beautiful I am (I am sorry if this sounds too vain!). Then I sleep (more like close my eyes and meditate)

What’s your favourite song on your playlist right now?
It’s amazing how much I love Nigerian songs. Right now my best song is Mayorkun’s “Mama” and anything that comes from DMW crew. I love Chris Morgan’s “Yahweh” so much.

What’s your favourite TV show?
I have a few favourites; Lip Sync Battle, Guy Code (I can’t express the joy I derive from this show). The Thundermans and Kid Danger.

What made you want to become an actor?
Any time this comes up all I do is sit and think of myself doing anything else. Like being a lawyer or doctor but I just really laugh hard at the thoughts. And am like “Nahhhh, You can’t be anything else”.  Acting is more or less like my lifestyle (I’ve been a drama queen since birth)

If you weren’t an actor, then you would be…
If I wasn’t an actor then I would take modeling seriously. I have a feeling I would have been an economist tho.

Best piece of advice you ever received?
If God is with you there is absolutely nothing or no one that can possibly be against you.

How do you overcome day-to-day challenges in your life?
I talk to myself a lot. Like I just sit in front of the mirror and talk all the sense I need into my head and I am fine! And of course I always talk to the big guy up there.

What made you want to get involved in MTV Shuga?
Being part of MTV Shuga was more like ‘a fantasy’. You know like having a crush on a celebrity that you might never meet. The popularity of the show and its message is enough reason for anyone to want to be part of MTV Shuga.

What social issues covered in the show are close to your heart?
I’m one of the youngest if not the youngest cast member of this season of MTV Shuga so the issue of what we young ones go through (rape, teenage pregnancy, sexuality, youthful exuberance etc.) is so relatable because I just went through some of them and am actually still going through some of them.

What are 3 things you wish to accomplish in your life?
Make Forbes 30 Under 30, make globally relevant movies, impact the world to the best of my ability (especially teenagers) and if there’s a fourth it will be to have 10 children (quadruplets, triplets, twins and one baby. Lol! )

What are you most looking forward to about the new season of MTV Shuga in Nigeria?
I’m looking forward to how happy we young ones will feel concerning the newly introduced story. Because we will have a sense of belonging in the society knowing fully well that the society sees our struggles and are ready to help.
