MTV Shuga Naija: Episode 9 Recap

Episode 9 was filled with drama, suspense and a little bit of trouble! Adebola Aduwo took note of every twist and turn

Episode 9 of MTV Shuga Naija began on a tense note. Corper Yasmin found herself in the middle of a fight because of Fati’s decision to get contraceptives without the knowledge of her husband. Why is everyone blaming Yasmin for advising her sister? This shouldn’t even be a family issue. One of the elders said something to her husband and I’m sure that’s the reason that he decided to go to Kano. I hope this issue doesn’t get worse than it already is.

I got emotional watching Faa narrate her painful ordeal to her younger sister, Tare. It is so tough to be brave after being assaulted and a. A shoulder to lean on is all that is needed sometimes. However, justice was served soon enough. The police came through and arrested Bada before taking Tobi in for questioning. Bada still maintained his innocence and Tobi claims not to have seen anything that happened on that night. He even went as far as blaming Faa for everything. This is not looking good. How will Faa get her justice now?

By the way, who else noticed Cynthia casually shooting her shot? I think Ebisinde likes her too but right now, he’s distracted by something else. He has started making plans with Wasiu and Shina for their biggest theft yet. Ebisinde came up with a strategy to steal a car from XL Lounge but apparently, Wasiu thinks they can do better by stealing three cars in one night!. These guys are going to get in so much trouble, I can feel it in my bones.

Meanwhile, Frances was so relieved to see her test results. That’s a good sign that everything is okay, thankfully. But Diana did what Diana does best: being incredibly nosey. At first, she tried to join the after-school club but Yasmin told her it was too late. Then she went snooping and found, picked Frances’ test results and went ahead to talk to Mrs.Olotu about who-knows-whatGod-knows-what. I don’t know what she’s up to but she’s definitely not getting away with this.

And then there was the moment that had me shook. Leila collapsed and was in a lot of pain even though and she didn’t use those weird pills she bought last week. Thank goodness Cyril got home just in time to see what was going on. It turns out she was actually pregnant but miscarried the child before she even had the chance to abort it. All of this these could have been avoided if Cyril had treated her like an adult and left her to make her own decisions. Her father got so upset and has canceled all plans of going abroad to further her education. I feel so bad for Leila.

But there was a ray of hope towards the end of the episode. Hadiza (that such a smart woman!) She has found a way to convince her husband that it is possible to be married and still get a proper education. In her own words, she said, “I am determined to live the best possible life”. You sure will, Hadiza! We are proud of you and are all rooting for you.
